The demand for face veneer in Indonesian has been relatively stable at an average of more than 1000 trucks per month. The months of September and October turned out to be beneficial for the other countries who send goods, as Okoume cargo were aunable to reach Indonesian ports during those months. The Indonesian face veneer traders reportedly had free run with the cargoes arriving from China, Indonesia, and Myanmar and with the availability of peel-able timber in PLB, PQ, and other locations.
The merchants are relieved that there is a greater availability of face veneer materials and that the face is being lifted adequately in several locations. The rise in the value of the dollar, combined with a pre-booked advance paid amount to supply factories and a shortfall from Okoume-producing country Gabon, made it possible for face veneer traders to book a long-awaited profit.
